Voice of Praise

Voice Of Praise, an acappella Mennonite male ensemble from Gladys, VA, began singing together in 1987. Its founder David Gingerich, now of Guys Mills, PA had visions of being part of a group that loved the Lord, loved singing and would be willing to donate of their time and energy in a part-time music ministry. Dave found three men who shared his goal: Kelvin Good, Jon Zehr, and Bruce Ramer. Thus was formed Voice Of Praise.

The group began giving a few local programs, singing at revival meetings and church homecomings. Before long they felt a call to share their message in song on a wider scale and began going on occasional tours. Because Voice Of Praise is a part-time ministry and all of its members hold "normal" jobs, the touring has been limited primarily to one week long tour per year in addition to several weekend tours and local programs. In the spring of 1997, after almost ten years and five recordings, two of the members elected to resign as active members of Voice Of Praise due to travel difficulties. Bruce had moved to northern VA and Dave had moved to northwestern PA.

Voice of Praise then added four new members: Josh Good, Glen Zehr, Ben Miller , and Paul Good. In August of 1998 the group had another personnel change when Paul Good resigned.

2001 brought more changes to the group. Kelvin had been ordained in the spring and felt it would be best for all parties if the group would find a replacement. He continued singing until September. Instead of just adding one replacement, however, two new voices were added, Lyndon Yoder and Josh N. Good, not to be confused with the before mentioned Josh B. Good. In the meantime, Josh B. had moved to southern Indiana, which very much limited his involvement and put him into the "inactive member" category.

The most recent personnel change occurred in September, 2004, when Lyndon joined the ranks of ex-Voice Of Praise singers. This change brought the group back to a quartet after over seven years of being a five or six voice group. Despite the personnel changes that have occurred over the years, the group's desire to praise God and be useful in building His kingdom remains the same.
